ISO 30301 Lead Implementer Certification

The ISO 30301 Implementer certifications are professional certifications for professionals needing to implement a Management System for Records (MSR) and, in case of the ISO 30301 Lead Implementer Certification, needing to manage an implementation project.

The principal competencies and knowledge skills needed by the market are the ability to support an organization in implementing and managing a Management System for Records as specified in ISO 30301:2011: planning, implementation, surveillance, re-examination and operation of a MSR, continual improvement of business processes and records management, management’s commitment, follow-up and review.

Various professions may apply for this certification:

  • Manager or consultant wanting to implement a Management System for Records (MSR)
  • Project manager or consultant wanting to master the Management System for Records implementation process
  • Person responsible for the quality management or conformity in an organization
  • Member of the quality, environmental, information security, energy or medical team
  • Expert advisor in records management
  • Technical expert wanting to prepare for a records management audit function

The requirements for “Implementer” certifications are:

For certification purposes, the following implementation types constitute valid implementation experience:
If an applicant doesn’t have all requirements to apply for the credentials of ISO 30301 Lead Implementer he/she may apply for the credentials of ISO 30301 Implementer or ISO 30301 Provisional Implementer.

  1. Internal implementation
  2. External/consulting implementation
  3. Partial implementation

To be considered valid, these implementation activities should follow best implementation practices and include most of the following activities:

  1. Drafting a MSR implementation business case
  2. Managing a MSR implementation project
  3. Implementing a MSR based on ISO 30301
  4. Implementing corrective and/or preventive actions
  5. Performing internal audit
  6. Performing a management review
  7. Performing evaluation, monitoring and measurement of a MSR based on ISO 30301
  8. Managing a records management team
